A Sanctuary from Everything, Briefly

Swiss artist and experience designer Annabelle Schneider presents Renaissance of the Real at Fondazione Luigi Rovati, a meditative installation created with Snøhetta and USM Modular Furniture. Conceived as a response to digital fatigue, it reflects on what remains of sensory intelligence in an age shaped by screens and algorithms.
At its centre, the USM Haller system is reimagined as a breathing architecture, wrapped in a soft textile skin that subtly expands and contracts, forming a cocoon-like space between structure and organism. Snøhetta’s spatial design guides visitors from Milan’s overstimulation into a calmer environment of diffused light, scent, and tactile surfaces.
Entry begins with a warm towel ritual, setting the tone for withdrawal rather than spectacle. Inside, daily vinyl sessions by artist and audio engineer Devon “OJAS” Turnbull fill the space with analogue sound. The installation becomes a quiet refuge, inviting presence, listening, and stillness.
