A Desire Gets Rewritten

During Milan Design Week, Fendi revisited one of its most enduring signatures with the unveiling of the Baguette 26424 Re-Edition at Palazzo Fendi Milano. Hosted by Creative Director Maria Grazia Chiuri, the presentation positioned the iconic handbag not as an exercise in nostalgia, but as a symbol of continual reinvention.

Named after the original archival code assigned to the Baguette in 1997, the re-edition reinterprets the silhouette with a softer, more contemporary sensibility. The collection comprises twenty re-editions inspired by landmark designs from the bag’s history, showcasing intricate embroidery, mirrored embellishments, sequined surfaces, and exceptional craftsmanship. Six Milan-exclusive versions were also introduced, each housed in a bespoke wooden case finished with a commemorative metal plaque.

Presented within an installation inspired by art conservation and collecting, the Baguette was displayed in custom wooden crates reminiscent of those used to transport museum masterpieces, elevating it from accessory to collectible object.

More than a relaunch, the Baguette 26424 Re-Edition reflects Chiuri’s belief in fashion as a vehicle for self-expression. Through this latest chapter, Fendi celebrates individuality while reaffirming the enduring relevance of an icon that continues to evolve with its time.
